Argentinian soccer player, Emiliano Sala, was on a plane Monday evening when it was reported missing over the Channel Islands by French officials.
Sala, 28, just completed a transfer from French club Nantes to Welsh team Cardiff City for 15 million euros. This move is the highest transfer fee in Cardiff City’s history.
Sala started his career with French team Bordeaux in 2012, while only appearing 11 times for the first team he was set out on loan to various other French teams. After 3 years in Bordeaux, Nantes completed the signing of Sala for 1 million euros. He was the first Nantes player to score a hat trick in a game since 2006. Sala had 12 goals for Nantes this season making him the 5th top goal scorer in League 1.
Police say that 1,000 square miles have been searched by 5 aircrafts and 2 lifeboats. The search was suspended last night due to horrible weather but was continued earlier this morning.
Hopefully Sala is safe and well and will be found in the upcoming days.
