In Group A current Libertadores title winner, River Plate, goes against Internacional who placed 3rd in the Brazilian league, Alianza Lima who placed 2nd in the Peruvian League and winner of playoff game G4. In Group F the winner of the Brazilian league, Palmerias, plays San Lorenzo, 2nd in the Argentinian League, and Junior Barranquilla who were runner ups of the Copa Sudamericana. Finally, Group G who is arguably the Group of Death. Winner of Copa Sudamericana, Athletico Paranaense, goes against Boca Juniors who are runner ups of the Libertadores, Tolima who were first in the Peruvian League and J. Wilstermann who were also first in the Bolivian League.
